East Coast Trip Part Eight

November 21st, 2022 by Brom Taulborg

After we left Gatlinburg, we went to Huntsville, AL for the night where we went to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The Space and Rocket Center is home to one of the three remaining Saturn V's and one of the ~5 remaining V-2 Rockets. The Space and Rocket Center is also the home of Space Camp (you might of heard of the movie Space Camp which is based off of Space Camp at the Space and Rocket Center).

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center building that houses the Saturn V is the one of the largest buildings at the Space and Rocket Center. It has the Saturn V, the V-2, a Skylab fragment, Werner Von Braun's office, and the capsule for the Saturn I, just to name a few. The Space and Rocket Center also has an original technical drawing of the V-2 rocket (with text in German). Also, ever since Von Braun was about 15, he was designing rockets (see picture below) and an original rocket design by him at age 15 is located at the Space and Rocket Center.
